India’s national interdisciplinary games are called the Khelo India Youth Games. The games mostly took place in January and February every year for the two categories, that is under 17 School Students and under-19 college students. On January 31, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Khelo India School Games. Later in 2019, with the Indian Olympic Association’s involvement in September 2018, the Khelo India School Games were renamed the Khelo India Youth Games. The seventh edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 took place in Bihar. For the first time, the tournament was held in Bihar. Over 10,000 athletes from 36 states and union territories competed in the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. Maharashtra established its authority once more at the Khelo India Youth Games, securing its third straight victory with a record-breaking 158 medals, including an astonishing 58 golds. Close on their heels was Haryana, finishing in the second place with 107 medals, making their mark especially in athletics and fencing. Rajasthan registered its best-ever performance at the KIYG, finishing third with 24 gold medals, a historic occasion for the state’s youthful athletes. The host state, Bihar, proved to be the biggest surprise of the game, rising from a 28th-place finish in previous editions to an extraordinary 15th this year. Bihar secured 7 golds with a total of 36 medals, a huge leap and their finest outing in KIYG history.

Amazing Performers of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025
Some fabulous performances by some noticeable players in the KIYG 2025 are as follows:
- Samuel Zadeng from Mizoram created history by clinching gold in the boys’ 70kg boxing category, proudly securing Mizoram’s very first medal in this edition of the games.
- Harshal Joge of Maharashtra ran his heart out in the boys’ 800 meters race, grabbing the gold and adding a shining moment to Maharashtra’s medal tally.
- Anjali Rawat from Madhya Pradesh emerged victorious in the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta, winning gold in the Phunaba Ama 56kg category.
- Khushi Yadav of Bihar showed remarkable endurance and focus in the girls’ 2000m steeplechase, finishing the race with a brilliant timing of 9:52.10.
- Aisengfa Gogoi from Assam lifted more than just weights; she lifted expectations and records. She broke the national youth record in the 55kg weightlifting category with a total of 183kg.
