Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants Timeline Overview

  • IPL 2022– At the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, LSG played against the MI for the first time on April 16, 2022. Opting to bat first, Lucknow posted 199 for 4 against the Mumbai team in the 26th match of the season, with its opener KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten century. In response, Mumbai managed just 181 runs in 20 overs, and the Giants had won their first match against the Indians by 18 runs.

The 37th Match of the IPL 2022 again saw the Giants prevail by 36 runs against the Indians. In true Krunal Pandya fashion, Lucknow’s bowler dismissed three batters of Mumbai while conceding just 19 runs. 

  • IPL 2023– On the 63rd Match of the 2023 season, LSG played MI at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium of Lucknow. Batting first, Lucknow gave a target of 178 runs, and LSG bowlers bowled splendidly to win the game by 5 runs. Marcus Stoinis received the Player of the Match award for his batting performance.

In an exciting knockout final during the 2023 season, MI won over LSG by 81 runs in the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai. Akash Madhwal spoiled the party for LSG by taking 5 wickets and was eventually declared the Player of the Match.

  • IPL 2024– LSG batting first on 17th May, 2024, in Mumbai, posted 214/6 with Nicholas Pooran making 75 off 29 balls and KL Rahul making 55 off 41 balls. In the chase, MI could only make 196 runs in 20 overs and lost by 18 runs. 
  • IPL 2025– Currently ongoing, the Giants secured a 12-run win over the Indians in the 16th Match of the season. LSG gave MI a target of 204 runs. Hardik Pandya took 5 wickets, conceding only 36 runs for Mumbai. The Player of the Match award was Digvesh Rathi of Lucknow.

On 27th April 2025, batting first, the Indians made 215/7, thanks to 58 from Ryan Rickelton and a 54 from Suryakumar Yadav. Being strengthened by the powerful bowling attacks of MI, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Will Jacks, they managed to register a victory against LSG by 54 runs.
